Course Experiences and topics

I will write here the blog entries for the course experience and the topics seen during the course ;)

1. My expectations on the course were basically covered. As I said before, I expected more practical and technical issues, but also have a look at the immense tools that internet offers for Social Media is amazing. Social Media has changed the way people do almost everything on the Internet and in some way directly into the real world, from communication, trough business. Marketing trough facebook has being more popular and among another Social Networks like myspace, which actually has quite more a lot on social issues like real events, concerts and so on, than its counterpart facebook.

2. Videos entries, actually, let the others users feel more in touch with themselves. A video lets feel the expressions and the inflections of voice, more than a simple comment or an email. According with the increase on bandwidth of the Internet connection, videos has been more accessible to the whole population, and the quality has being increasing quite much, letting space even for HQ videos online, as you can see on vimeo.com . For educational purposes is amazingly useful, letting the experience to the student to have a enriching experience and actually increase of a “fun” way knowledge. Out there now exist quite a lot of tutorials made out from videos, which actually let the student see how to do it, instead just reading, which sometimes, turns quite boring time and monotone.

3. With the Web 2.0 blogging was introduced, changing the user experience in quite a lot of ranges. Blogging has become actually a essential part of every webpage, the main reason why of this, is that it lets the users become part of the actuall development of the page, with comments and with interaction that didn’t existed before. And opening the doors to new business, offering services, and feel the contact with the person beyond the screen, seeing posts and interacting “face to face” with discussions and so on. Actually blogs that receive a lot of visits also earn a lot of money thanks to that traffic generating profit with advertising and publicity.

4. And also trough tools like RSS and feeds being informed of the day to day basis with new blog entries directly to your cellphone, computer, or feed reader, without taking time sitting in front of the computer reading and reading, it let the person read and being informed whenever is located increasing effectiveness and efficiency of the use of time.

Second Life and its potential

Second life, is basically like playing the Sims but you play with only a character and actually you interact with other people, which at the end are people from the real world. You interact trough Avatars which are a graphic look on "how" supposedly you look like, but apparently that's is not so true as I thought at the beginning.

Apparently there's more than 13 million people registered on the system, which represents more than 13 million people, that could represent clients, contacts, services, etc. For me the advantage of Second Life is the interaction where you can actually speak to other people in a not "face to face" environment, letting you freedom a little bit compared with other platforms. Second life has a own currency which actually can be change to real money (EUR or USD), and you can actually sell, buy rent stuff in this 3D world, and also provide or request services from other users, which open the doors for you as a designer, or even as a professional to provide services to other people around the world and actually get profit from it, letting you increase your possibilities in such a market plagued of competition, as is nowadays, and expanding you horizons to all the corners of the planet.

The popularity of this platform has been increasing, that there's huge companies which are investing in publicity and marketing of different products and services inside the 3D world.

Whit such a big Target and a lot of users, and the connection between a "fake" currency with real money like EUR and USD gives to everyone the possibility to make profit from it, untied from restrictions like countries, barriers, and even time. Is a great opportunity to actually make publicity of your work on different cultural scenes the platform have, and in some way letting you be know by the people around the world, which at the end, is a lot of benefit as a professional in the field of design, isn't it?

Any thoughts?

Potencial of Social Networks.

The potential of the Social Networking has being increasing in the last years as more users get involved in this platforms. The main issue that the companies see on the Social Networking is the facility to get the public directly and more personally, and make advertising in pages where there are more than 200 millions of visits per day (last count on facebook speculations), which in marketing and advertising is consider a great deal to create ads for. Without expenses on printing, transport, assets, employees, among others.

This pages offers the possibilities, according to the interest of users, groups, etc publish specific products or services, so in this way even demographically get the Public Target in the most accurate way possible, which according to Market Research, is the way to go.

The companies, invest more and more publicity and advertising for this social web sites, and has become a way to settle business, and even to make contacts of companies. More people use the Internet to settle contacts, to hire persons, and to look for new services, which are impossible to get in the real life, by this I mean in the same territory, in some way erasing land barriers.

More users get into the system and the Webnet has become bigger and bigger, letting the possibility to the users to access a way and broad range of services. Even though the last trends is letting the people access to educational systems and receiving tutorials on high quality, so in the commodity of their homes, getting information for education, and increasing the productivity and efficiency.

I believe that the Internet has a really huge potential, on education and systems, cause it lets the people go further and not stick to a "face to face" communication, increasing the possibility to access products and services all around the world, getting more solid the concept of globalization in the modern world.

What do you think?
